Yes, it's true.
I've written already about dreams of a slower life in a place that's self-contained and sustained. On a recent trip to Washington state, I spied a strange dwelling that I thought for sure, was a gnome's home. In reality, it was a root cellar.
A life long Angeleno, I had never heard of such a thing. Apparently, it is an ideal storage space for extending the life of root vegetables, jars of pickled and preserved produce (jams!), drying herbs and keeping wine perhaps? I don't really need one, but I would love one. And if I had one, I'm sure I would use it! I may just have to plant the idea into Mr. W's capable mind and hands.
