Like millions of other folks on this planet, coffee is a morning necessity. I'm very particular about my coffee (read: SNOB). And with Alfred, Blue Bottle and about 6 others within a 1-mile radius of my home, it's very easy to get a great cup.
But those good cups of coffee set me back at least $5 a pop, not to mention while I'm there I start to feel hungry because of those good looking pastries greeting me "hey!" After a few moments, I'm walking out with my beautifully printed badge of a coffee cup, a little bag of 800 calories and $10 lighter. Multiply that by 3x a week and I've just spent the equivalent of what a pair of jeans from Madewell cost in 4 weeks.
So this weekend, my boys helped me pick out a sensible automatic (and programmable!) coffee maker and this travel carafe. It's kind of silly, but so far I'm really liking the process of prepping the coffee the night before and in the morning I get excited when I hear the coffeemaker start all by itself - true magic. What also feels like magic is a few hours later at the office, when I pour myself a cup of coffee from my carafe, it stays as hot as it was when I first brewed it.
Here's to change. And a little more change in my pocket. XO
PS. Happy National Coffee Day!
